Ian answers our "culture" questions...

1. Can you tell us what does culture mean to you?

For me culture is tradition, knowledge and accepted human interaction passed from geneartion to generation.  Culture is the vehicle in which knowledge and wisdom from previous generations is passed to the next.  Its really important since its through the passing of our culture to our children that we help ensure that the knowledge gained is not forgotten by the new generations, giving way for improvement and growth.

2. Which field of culture do you think most significantly reflects today’s human civilization?

I think the most stricking cultural trait, is reflected in what people eat.  Each area of the globe has different types of predominant food and spices that characterizes the region's cuisin,  and at the end of the day, people become what they eat, so i think that food reflects its people the most.

I think all aspects of culture are equally important and reflect human civilization. What kind of music people listen to, which type of art is more accepted, what types of films are most popular, all of it, reflects culture and its people.   What people eat, wear, listen to, like and dislike, all of it, is a result of the predomintant culture that surrounds the indiviudal, so culture is important in everyway.

3. Is there a field that is neglected in contemporary culture, while important for Life?

Yes, I think modern culutre is neglecting the importance of feelings.  People nowadays forget that all of their actions have one fundamental reason, the search for happiness.  And what culture has neglected to bring to the surface is that following our positive feelings shows us the way into living fullfilling and happy lives, and that the search of material satisfaction only feeds a destructive cycle of senseless consumption.

4. Can you describe the individual human achievement in the field of culture, who consider the long-term importance to human civilization?

Ghandi's courage and fight for the belief that something had to change, and sacrificing it all for a greater than life reason.

People that inspire the world to chance civilization, and lead the way for improovement, like Ghandi and mother Theresa, have a long term impact in human civilization, and inspire greatness in many others areas of culture.
